Product Overview: Chloramphenicol & Polymyxin-B Sulphate Eye Ointment is a broad-spectrum antibiotic ophthalmic preparation formulated for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye and eyelids. The combination of two potent antibiotics provides synergistic antibacterial activity, covering both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This formulation helps relieve redness, irritation, discharge, and discomfort associated with bacterial eye infections, ensuring rapid recovery and ocular protection. Indications: Bacterial conjunctivitis Blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis Keratitis and corneal ulcers Post-surgical prophylaxis against bacterial infections Superficial ocular infections caused by susceptible bacteria Mechanism of Action: Chloramphenicol: Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, providing bacteriostatic activity. Polymyxin-B Sulphate: Disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity, leading to leakage of cellular contents and bacterial death.
